Dear Friend of IFSA Burn Camp:

The Bucks for Burn Camp Committee is busy planning their “Bucks for Burn Camp” fundraiser scheduled for June 13, 2009. All proceeds from their event will be donated to the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance Burn Camp. Any monetary donation or donation of raffle prizes would be very helpful to them.

We encourage your support to this event so that we can all accomplish something very positive for those young children that have endured more than most of us ever will as adults. The special programs we make available at camp help the children build self-esteem while lear Monday, May 11, 2009 10:57 AM p psychological trauma they often suffer.

It costs approximately $1,500 per child to attend Burn Camp. The campers’ families never incur any expense. Camp is only possible through fundraisers such as this. 96 children attended our Burn Camp in 2007. Burn Camp 2009 will be held June 14-20. We expect to have approximately 100 campers this year. One of our previous burn survivors, who now comes to us a volunteer counselor wrote this poem that says it all….

Special, Beautiful Burn Camp
By J.J. Chevron
For one week of the year, at a special place called burn camp,
a group of extraordinary people get together to temporarily erase the very permanent damage that fire has painted upon so many innocents.
They do what most cannot, but what everyone should.
They see beneath the masks and suits of scars that so many wear.
Exposing the only thing that any of us should see…
The Beautiful Children.
Armed with huge hearts and immeasurable love, these great souls set the children free from all that should not be, to run and play and soar…
the way it should always be.

We appreciate your support to the Bucks for Burn Camp committee and their fund raiser. Please contact them with any donation you may have.Sincerely,

Mary Werderitch
Executive Director
